USB4 is the latest version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard, designed to significantly improve data transfer speeds and connectivity options for modern computers and devices. It supports data transfer rates up to 40 Gbps, which is double the maximum speed of its predecessor, USB 3.2. USB4 also incorporates Thunderbolt 3 compatibility, allowing for seamless connections with a wide range of peripherals, including high-resolution displays, external storage devices, and docking stations. The standard uses the USB-C connector, promoting a single, versatile port for power, data, and video. USB4’s improved bandwidth allocation enables more efficient handling of multiple data and display protocols simultaneously, making it ideal for demanding applications such as gaming, video editing, and professional workflows. Its backward compatibility ensures that older USB devices can still connect, though at reduced speeds.
