A Quad Flat Package (QFP) is a type of integrated circuit (IC) package with leads extending from all four sides. These leads are thin metal pins that connect the chip to a printed circuit board (PCB). QFPs are commonly used for microcontrollers, processors, and other complex ICs due to their ability to accommodate a high number of connections in a compact space. Their flat, rectangular shape makes them suitable for surface-mount technology (SMT), which enhances automated assembly and miniaturization in electronics manufacturing. While QFPs offer advantages in density and ease of assembly, their fine-pitched leads can be susceptible to damage and require careful handling during soldering and inspection.
