A natural language interface (NLI) is a technology that allows users to interact with computer systems using everyday, conversational language rather than specialized commands or programming syntax. In cybersecurity, NLIs enable users to perform complex security tasks, such as querying logs, configuring firewalls, or investigating incidents, simply by typing or speaking requests in plain language. This makes cybersecurity tools more accessible to non-experts and can increase efficiency for experienced professionals. However, NLIs must be carefully designed to avoid misinterpretation and ensure security, as ambiguous language could lead to unintended actions. Advances in artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) continue to improve the accuracy and usability of NLIs in cybersecurity contexts.
