MD5 hash refers to the output of the Message Digest Algorithm 5 (MD5), a widely used cryptographic hash function. MD5 takes an input of any length and produces a fixed 128-bit (16-byte) hash value, typically represented as a 32-character hexadecimal number. It is commonly used to verify data integrity, create digital signatures, and store hashed passwords. However, due to vulnerabilities such as collision attacks, MD5 is no longer considered secure for cryptographic purposes. Despite this, it remains in use for non-critical applications where resistance to attacks is not essential.
