The Malabo Convention, formally known as the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection, is a treaty adopted in 2014 by African Union member states. Its goal is to harmonize laws and regulations across Africa to strengthen cybersecurity, combat cybercrime, and protect personal data. The Convention sets out legal frameworks and guidelines for electronic transactions, personal data protection, and measures to prevent and respond to cyber threats. By promoting cooperation among African countries, it aims to create a safer digital environment and foster trust in online services across the continent.
