Interlaced video output is a display technique where each video frame is divided into two fields: one containing all the odd-numbered lines and the other all the even-numbered lines. These fields are displayed alternately, effectively doubling the perceived frame rate without increasing the bandwidth. This method was widely used in analog television systems to improve motion smoothness and reduce flicker on CRT displays. However, interlaced video can cause artifacts such as combing in fast-moving scenes and is less compatible with modern progressive scan displays, which show all lines in each frame at once. In cybersecurity, understanding video formats like interlaced output is important for analyzing surveillance footage and preventing data manipulation.
