The Election Security Group (ESG) is a specialized joint task force established to protect the integrity of U.S. elections from foreign cyber threats and interference. Comprised of experts from federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, ESG coordinates intelligence sharing, incident response, and security guidance for election infrastructure. The group works closely with state and local election officials to detect, prevent, and mitigate cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and other digital threats targeting voting systems and election processes. ESG plays a crucial role in safeguarding democratic processes by ensuring that elections remain free, fair, and secure from external manipulation.
