An edge server is a computer located at the boundary of a network, closer to end users, that processes data and handles requests before they reach the main (origin) server. By managing tasks such as content caching, data filtering, and security checks, edge servers help reduce latency, improve load times, and enhance overall network performance. They are commonly used in content delivery networks (CDNs) and cloud computing to ensure faster, more reliable access to digital resources while reducing the workload on central servers.
