A dust attack is a cybersecurity tactic in which an attacker sends tiny amounts of cryptocurrency, known as 'dust,' to a large number of wallet addresses. The goal is to break the privacy of wallet owners by tracking the movement of these small amounts and linking wallet addresses to individuals or organizations. Dust attacks can also be used to harass users or clutter their transaction history. While the amounts involved are usually too small to be of monetary value, the privacy risks are significant, especially for users who value anonymity in blockchain transactions.
