Asymmetric power in cybersecurity refers to situations where individuals or groups with limited resources can exert significant influence or damage against much larger, better-funded organizations or states. This imbalance is common in cyber conflict, where attackers exploit vulnerabilities, leverage widely available hacking tools, or use novel tactics to bypass traditional defenses. As a result, even small actors can disrupt critical infrastructure, steal sensitive data, or cause reputational harm. This dynamic challenges conventional security approaches, as defenders must anticipate and counter threats from adversaries who do not need to match their scale or resources to be effective.
