ActiveX is a set of technologies developed by Microsoft that enables interactive content and features, such as videos or toolbars, to run within software applications and web browsers, especially Internet Explorer. While ActiveX controls can enhance user experience by allowing programs to share information and functionality, they have a history of security vulnerabilities. Hackers often exploit these weaknesses to deliver malware or gain unauthorized access to systems. As a result, many modern browsers and organizations have phased out or restricted the use of ActiveX for improved security.
